Somewhere Only We Know

Somewhere Only We Know is a song performed and composed by English alternative rock band Keane. It was one of the biggest hits of 2004 worldwide and ranked number three on the UK Chart during its first week of sale. It appears on the opening track of Keane's debut album, Hopes and Fears.

Formed in 1997, Keane is an English alternative rock band, consisting of Tim Rice-Oxley (piano, backing vocals), Tom Chaplin (lead vocals, guitar), Richard Hughes (drums, percussion), and Jesse Quin (bass guitar, percussion). The founder and guitarist Dominic Scott left the band in 2001. Unlike most other rock bands, Keane uses a piano (or a synth) as the lead instrument instead of guitars.

In 2008, Q magazine readers voted Keane's albums Hopes and Fears and Under the Iron Sea to their list of the top twenty British albums ever. Keane's album Night Train (2010) ranked number one on the UK Chart and number twenty-five on the Billboard 200 US chart.
