Smoke Gets in Your Eyes

Smoke Gets in Your Eyes is a long-popular song written by American composer Jerome Kern and lyricist Otto Harbach for their 1933 operetta Roberta.

Featured in several movies, it has been covered by numerous artists, beginning with the Paul Whiteman Orchestra and singer Bob Lawrence in 1934. Probably the most famous cover was The Platters' version (1958), which reached number one on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 and number three on the 1959 R&B charts.
