Sailor Moon: Soundtracks

There are several sound tracks for the popular 1992/1993 anime Sailor Moon (美少女戦士セーラームーン), which is the video version of the manga with the same name.

Takanori Arisawa, who earned the Golden Disk Grand Prize from Columbia Records for his work on the first series soundtrack in 1993, composed and arranged the background musical scores, including the spinoffs, games, and movies. In 1998, 2000, and 2001 he won the JASRAC International Award for most international royalties, owing largely to the popularity of Sailor Moon music in other nations. Many of the Japanese music-albums for the anime were remixes of previous albums in jazz style, music box, French, etc. In addition, thirty-three different CD singles were released.

Moonlight Densetsu (ムーンライト伝説 ; Moonlight Legend) was the opening theme song for the first four seasons of the Sailor Moon anime. The song's lyrics were written by Kanako Oda, and the melody was composed by Tetsuya Komoro. Much of the melody was adapted from Chieko Baishou's Sayonara wa Dance no Ato ni.
