Regina Spektor's Works

Born in the Soviet Union, Regina Spektor (born in 1980) is an American singer-songwriter and pianist. Her music is often characterized as "anti-folk", insofar as it mocks seriousness and pretension in some folk-music. She has a wide vocal range, and uses a variety of different and somewhat unorthodox vocal techniques. Her style is eclectic with regard to genre and lyrics.

Regina Spektor has made several albums, and her 2006 album Begin to Hope was nominated for a Shortlist Music Prize. In 2009 she won the Studio8's Female Voice of August 2009 award. The three songs listed below are among her many works that have received considerable media coverage:

- Samson was used in a 2006 television-episode of CSI:NY; it and contains an allusion to the bible story of Samson and Delilah.

- Hero is featured on the soundtrack for the 2009 movie (500) Days of Summer.

- The Call appeared prominently in the final part of the 2008 Disney-movie The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian.
