Prokofiev's Montagues and Capulets

Montagues and Capulets, also known as Dance of the Knights, is a piece extracted by Sergei Prokofiev from Act I, Scene 2 of his ballet Romeo and Juliet (1935). Dark and atmospheric, Montagues and Capulets has become a signature tune for the Soviet era, and is used as the soundtrack for numerous dramas, documentaries, and advertisements that have Soviet subject matter.

Sergei Prokofiev (1891 - 1953) was a Russian composer, pianist, and conductor. As a composer he is renowned for his wonderfully distinctive style, bold and colourful passages, brittle wit, and pungent drama. He made major contributions to almost every musical genre and is generally regarded as one of the greatest composers of the 20th century.
