Prokofiev: The Love for Three Oranges

Prokofiev's popular March is a piece from his 1921 opera The Love for Three Oranges, Opus 33. He used the March as the third movement of his orchestral suite The Love for Three Oranges, Opus 33bis. And his Opus 33ter consists of his piano transcription of both the March and the Scherzo from Opus 33bis. The March was used by CBS in the radio-drama series The FBI in Peace and War that was broadcast from 1944 to 1958. Prokofiev also quotes the March in Act 2 of his ballet Cinderella, Opus 87.

Sergei Prokofiev (1891 - 1953) was a Russian composer, pianist, and conductor. As a composer he is renowned for his wonderfully distinctive style, bold and colorful passages, brittle wit, and pungent drama. He made major contributions to almost every musical genre and is generally regarded as one of the greatest composers of the 20th century.
