Princess Mononoke (1997) is a Japanese fantasy animated-movie written and directed by Hayao Miyazaki. The music was composed and performed by Joe Hisaishi, and The Legend of Ashitaka is the first piece on the soundtrack.
Joe Hisaishi (born in 1950) is a Japanese composer and director known for more than one-hundred movie scores and solo albums. While possessing his own distinct style, Hisaishi has explored several genres, including minimalist, electronic, European classical, and Japanese classical.
