Pietro Domenico Paradies

Pietro Domenico Paradies (1707 - 1791), was an Italian composer, harpsichordist, and teacher. He is most well-known for his widely recorded Toccata in A, which is the second movement (allegro) of the Sonata No. 6 for harpsichord from his 12 Harpsichord Sonatas (RISM A/I: P 893, 1754).

His early compositions were mainly for theater, and he became a teacher of harpsichord and singing. His style of composition was influenced by Alessandro and Domenico Scarlatti. He composed concertos, for organ and for harpsichord; individual pieces for harpsichord; arias; and cantatas. His 12 Harpsichord Sonatas were his most popular works.
