Petite Litanies de Jesus

Petite Litanies de Jesus is the last of Gabriel Grovlez's set of eight short pieces for piano called L'Almanach aux images (or 8 pièces de piano d’après des poêmes de Tristan Klingsor), which was first published in 1911. Each of the eight pieces is prefaced with a poem by the French poet Tristan Klingsor (1874-1966). Suitable for use in wedding ceremonies, Petite Litanies de Jesus is included in the Royal Conservatory Grade 8 Piano Syllabus, along with Berceuse de la Poupee, the second piece in L'Almanach aux images.

Gabriel Grovlez (1879 - 1944) was a French conductor, composer, teacher, and music critic. He revived and conducted baroque operas by Lully, Monteverdi, Gluck and Rameau. His own compositions include operas, ballets, symphonic poems, songs, and piano music. His writing style was similar to that of Debussy and Fauré. L'Almanach aux Images is his best-known work.
