Norbert Burgmüller: Selected Works

Norbert Burgmüller (1810 - 1836) was a German composer. His mother was a singer and piano teacher, and his brother Friedrich Burgmüller was a composer. In 1836, Norbert drowned during an epileptic seizure. Robert Schumann arranged for the posthumous publication of Norbert Burgmüller's two symphonies, and completed the orchestration of the scherzo of the unfinished Symphony Number-2. In a memorial notice Schumann wrote that no death was more deplorable than that of Norbert Burgmüller since the early death of Franz Schubert.

Norbert Burgmüller's Duo for Piano and Clarinet in E major, Opus 15, was composed in 1834. It has three movements: Allegro, Larghetto, and Allegro; and is usually performed in about eleven minutes.
