Mozart's Symphony Number 40

Remarkably, Mozart's last three symphonies, numbers 39, 40, and 41, were all written in the short time-span of about 7 weeks, in 1788. Among these three masterpieces, the Symphony Number 40, in G minor, KV. 550, is the one that seems to reveal the agitation and pathos that Mozart, no doubt, experienced at that time. This symphony is one of only two Mozart symphonies written in a minor key.

The music of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1756 - 1791) is one of humanity's greatest treasures. Unsurpassed in its abundance of fascinating brilliant ideas and its immense breadth of emotion, it provides boundless joy to listeners and performers.
