Mozart Le Nozze di Figaro

Non più andrai (You shall go no more) is an aria for bass from Mozart's 1786 opera Le Nozze di Figaro (The Marriage of Figaro), K. 492. Composed in the key of C major, the aria is in the style of a military march. The Italian libretto for the opera was written by Lorenzo Da Ponte based on a stage comedy by Pierre Beaumarchais, La folle journée, ou le Mariage de Figaro (1784). Non più andrai is sung by Figaro at the end of the first act. Mozart later quoted this tune, as part of a medley sequence, in his opera Don Giovanni (K. 527). The piece is played on harpsichord by the Mozart character in the 1984 movie Amadeus.

The music of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1756 - 1791) is one of humanity's greatest treasures. Unsurpassed in its abundance of fascinating brilliant ideas and its immense breadth of emotion, it provides boundless joy to listeners and performers.
