Moonlight Serenade

Written by Glenn Miller with lyrics by Mitchell Parish, Moonlight Serenade is a popular American song as well as Miller's signature tune. The 1939 recording of Miller's instrumental version, performed by Glenn Miller and His Orchestra, was a huge success, and was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 1991. Moonlight Serenade has been used in numerous movies and television programs. It has been covered by numerous artists, including Ella Fitzgerald, Frank Sinatra, Barry Manilow, Carly Simon, Lawrence Welk, Henry Mancini, the Boston Pops, Count Basie and his Orchestra, and Gene Krupa and his Orchestra.

Glenn Miller (1904 - 1944) was an American jazz musician (trombone), arranger, composer, and bandleader in the swing era. He led one of the best known "big bands", and he was one of the best-selling recording artists from 1939 to 1943.

Mitchell Parish (1900 – 1993) was an American lyricist. He wrote lyrics for many famous songs, including Moonlight Serenade, Star Dust, Deep Purple, Sophisticated Lady, Volare (English lyrics), and Sleigh Ride.
