Lua Branca

Lua Branca (Portuguese: White Moon) is a song composed by Chiquinha Gonzaga in 1911 for her operetta Forrobodó. The piece is featured in Maria Teresa Madeira's 1999 album Chiquinha Gonzaga.

Chiquinha Gonzaga (1847 - 1935) was a Brazilian composer, pianist, and social activist who fought to end slavery in Brazil. She is best known for her works for the Carnival in Brazil such as Ó Abre Alas (Please Make Way), and for her theatrical works such as the operettas Forrobodó and Jurití. She is admired for her courage to be one of the first Brazilian women to participate in the music profession.
