Les Marionettes

Les Marionettes is a musical piece from the 1991 movie La Double Vie de Véronique (The Double Life of Véronique). Directed by Krzysztof Kieślowski, the movie includes Zbigniew Preisner's haunting operatic musical-score. At the 1991 Cannes Film Festival, The Double Life of Véronique won the Prize of the Ecumenical Jury and the FIPRESCI Prize for Krzysztof Kieslowski, and the Best Actress Award for Irène Jacob.

Zbigniew Preisner (born in 1955) is a Polish movie-score composer, best known for his work with movie director Krzysztof Kieślowski. With a romantic musical style influenced by Paganini and Sibelius, he has composed more than forty movie-scores. Preisner's many awards and citations include the Silver Bear award from the Berlin Film Festival in 1997, two Césars from the French Film Academy, and three consecutive citations (1991,1992 and 1993) at The Los Angeles Critics Association Awards. In 2008, he was presented with an award by the International Eurasia Film Festival for his contribution to Cinema and Arts.
