Leonid Desyatnikov (Russian: Леони́д Арка́дьевич Деся́тников), born in 1955, is an award winning Russian composer. Among his works are several movie scores, four operas, the symphony The Rite of Winter 1949, vocal cycles to the poems of the German poet Rainer Maria Rilke, and several instrumental transcriptions of themes by Ástor Piazzolla. His 2005 opera Rosenthal’s Children was commissioned by the Bolshoi Theatre.
