Le coucou

Le coucou (The Cuckoo) is the sixteenth piece of Louis-Claude Daquin's Pièces de clavecin (Pieces for Harpsichord), a set of twenty-eight pieces for harpsichord, published in 1735. Le coucou is Daquin's most famous work, and the reason for its title is self-evident when you hear the music.

Louis-Claude Daquin (1694 - 1772) was a French composer of Jewish ancestry, as well as a virtuoso organist and harpsichordist. Among his most famous works are the Noël Suisse (Swiss Noël), No. XII from his Nouveau livre (New Book), and Le coucou, from his Pièces de clavecin.
