Laura

Composed by David Raskin with lyrics by Johnny Mercer, Laura is a popular song from the 1944 movie with the same name, directed by Otto Preminger. The song has since become a jazz standard with over four hundred known recordings. Some of the best known versions are by Billy Eckstine, Charlie Parker, Woody Herman, Frank Sinatra, and Julie London.

David Raskin (1912 - 2004) was an American composer famous for his work in movies and television. With over 100 movie scores and 300 television scores, he became known as the "Grandfather of Film Music."

Best known as an American lyricist, Johnny Mercer (1909 - 1976) was also a songwriter and singer. He wrote the lyrics to more than fifteen hundred songs, including compositions for movies and Broadway shows.
