James Hook: Selected Works

James Hook (1746 - 1827) was an English composer and organist. In addition to his operas, oratorios, songs, chamber music, and concerti, he composed over two thousand songs, a number of which remain in use, such as Within a Mile of Edinbro' Town and The Lass of Richmond Hill. His wife and children wrote librettos for some of his operas.

His composition Hornpipe, in D Major, is a piece from his set of pedagogical works Guida di musica (c1785), Opus 37.
