I Will Always Love You is a song written in 1973 by American singer/songwriter Dolly Parton, who recorded the song as a single in 1974 and re-recorded it in 1982 for the the movie The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas. Both versions reached number-one ranking on the country-music charts, the first time that two recordings of the same song by one artist ever achieved such a ranking.
In 1992, American singer Whitney Houston recorded the song for her movie debut, The Bodyguard. An enormous success, her version is one of the few singles that ever sold at least ten million copies.
