I Started a Joke

I Started a Joke is a song by the Bee Gees from their 1968 album Idea. Sung and mostly written by Robin Gibb, the song is supposedly about someone who has done or said something horribly wrong. I Started a Joke has been covered by several artists, including Faith No More who originally covered it as a bonus track on some versions of their 1995 album King for a Day... Fool for a Lifetime.

The Bee Gees are a popular musical group originally consisting of the brothers Barry, Robin, and Maurice Gibb. (Maurice died in 2003.) The trio was successful for most of its more than forty years of recording music. It had two periods of exceptional success: as a pop act in the late 1960s and early 1970s, and as performers of the disco-music era in the late 1970s. Robin's clear vibrato lead was a hallmark of their earlier hits, while Barry's R&B falsetto became the Bee Gees' signature sound during the late 1970s and 1980s. The brothers co-wrote all of their own hits, and also wrote and produced several major hits for other artists.
