I Say a Little Prayer

I Say a Little Prayer (sometimes called "I Say a Little Prayer for You") is a song composed by Burt Bacharach with lyrics by Hal David. Originally written for Dionne Warwick, her version reached number-four on the U. S. Billboard Hot 100 pop-singles chart in December of 1967. The song has been covered by several artists. It is used in the soundtrack for the movies The April Fools (1969) and My Best Friend's Wedding (1997). Diana King's version of the song, used in the latter movie, reached number-38 on the U. S. Billboard Hot 100 pop-singles chart.

Composer Burt Bacharach (born in 1928) and lyricist Hal David (born in 1921) collaborated on many songs for many singers from the mid-1950s through the 1980s. The songs include Raindrops Keep Fallin' on My Head, Magic Moments, Do You Know the Way to San Jose, Close to You, Walk On By, What the World Needs Now, I Say a Little Prayer, and One Less Bell to Answer.
