Released in 1984, I Just Called to Say I Love You is one of Stevie Wonder's most successful singles. Wonder and his former writing partner Lee Garrett each claim to have composed the song independently. In any case, the single reached number-one on the Billboard Hot 100 (in the United States), the UK charts, the R&B Chart, and the Adult Contemporary Chart. I Just Called to Say I Love You was first featured in the 1984 comedy movie The Woman in Red, and has been covered by Barry Manilow among others.
Stevie Wonder (born in 1950) is an American singer-songwriter, instrumentalist, and record producer. He has recorded more than thirty United States top-ten hits, and won twenty-two Grammy Awards as well as a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award. Wonder has also won the Academy Award for Best Song, and been inducted into both the Rock and Roll and the Songwriters halls of fame.
