How High the Moon

"How High the Moon" is a jazz standard written by Morgan Lewis with lyrics by Nancy Hamilton. It was first featured in the 1940 Broadway show Two for the Show.

"How High the Moon" has long been associated with singer Ella Fitzgerald, who recorded it several times. Her most celebrated recording of it is on her 1960 album Ella in Berlin, which was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 2002. The song has been recorded by at least fifty other artists, including Benny Goodman who made the first recorded hit version.
