Hedwig's Theme

The main musical theme for the Harry Potter movie series, Hedwig's Theme is a piece composed for the movie Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone (2001) by John Williams, who wrote the complete score for that movie. Hedwig's Theme has achieved significant pop-culture status. It is used as background music, as well as for ring-tones in cell-phones and for other multimedia purposes. The soundtrack for Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone was nominated for Best Original Music Score at the 74th Academy Awards.

John Williams (born in 1932) is an American composer, conductor, and pianist. He composed scores for movies such as the Star Wars saga, Jaws, Superman, the Indiana Jones movies, E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, Hook, Jurassic Park, Schindler's List, Home Alone, and the first three Harry Potter movies. He has won five Academy Awards, four Golden Globe Awards, seven BAFTA Awards, and twenty-one Grammy Awards. John Williams was principal conductor of the Boston Pops
