Heinrich Lichner: Works

Heinrich Lichner (1829 - 1898) was a prolific German composer, best known today for his teaching pieces - simple piano works written for students. His sonatinas, including Opus 111 (Bunte Blumen), Opus 49, and Opus 66 are light and fluent classical pieces, although the harmony occasionally betrays the influence of romanticism.  Lichner was also an organist and director - he worked as organist at a church, and was the director of a saengerbund (choral festival) in Breslau.

Heinrich Lichner's Tulpe (Tulip) is the fourth of the six pieces of his Bunte Blumen, Op.111, for piano solo, first published in 1873:
