Getting to Know You

Getting To Know You is a famous song from the musical The King and I, an adaptation of Margaret Landon's book Anna and the King of Siam. The plot is loosely based on the memoirs of Anna Leonowens, a school teacher for the children of King Mongkut of Siam (Thailand) in the early 1860s.

The sixth collaboration for the writing team of Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II, The King and I opened on Broadway in 1951, ran for 1,246 performances, won many awards (including the Tony Award for Best Musical), and spawned a popular 1956 film version with the same name.
