Frühlingsrauschen
Frühlingsrauschen (Rustle of Spring), Opus 32, Number 3, is a solo piano piece written by Christian Sinding in 1896. Written in Salon style, this entertaining piece is Sinding's most popular work. Frühlingsrauschen appears in the second episode of Dennis Potter's 1986 television series The Singing Detective, and in a few parts of Meredith Wilson's 1957 musical The Music Man.
Christian Sinding (1856 - 1941) was a Norwegian composer. Known for his lyrical works for piano, he is often compared to Edvard Grieg and regarded as his successor. Sinding is best remembered today for Frühlingsrauschen. Among his other works are four symphonies, three violin concertos, a piano concerto, chamber music, songs and choral works, and an opera, Der Heilige Berg (The Holy Mountain, 1914).
