Friedrich Burgmüller: Piano Etudes

Remembered for his piano etudes intended for children, Friedrich Burgmüller (1806 – 1874) was a German pianist and composer, and brother of the composer Norbert Burgmüller (1810 - 1836). Friedrich's Opus 68, 76, 97, 100, 105, and 109 etudes are widely used for teaching piano. Selections from his many etudes and his Ballade appear in a wide variety of educational collections.

Friedrich Burgmüller also wrote salon music, variations, waltzes, nocturnes, polonaises, stage works, and the ballets La Péri and Lady Harriet. His Peasant Pas de Deux is still performed in most productions of Adolphe Adam's ballet Giselle (1841).

Friedrich Burgmüller's Opus 100, published in 1852, consists of twenty five etudes.
