"Fireflies" is a single released by Owl City. It was written and produced by Adam Young for Owl City's second album, Ocean Eyes (2009).
In the U.S., the song debuted in September on the Billboard Hot 100, and it reached number one in its tenth week, becoming Owl City's first number-one single. Fireflies propelled the album Ocean Eyes to the top ten on the U.S. Billboard 200. It was ranked 60th on the Billboard Hot 100 2009 year-end chart.The RIAA certified "Fireflies" platinum in December 2009.
Internationally, the song has reached number one in Denmark and the Netherlands, and the top ten in Australia, Belgium (Flanders), Canada, New Zealand, Norway and Slovak Republic.
