Downton Abbey: Soundtrack

The opening theme to the British television-series Downton Abbey was composed by John Lunn, produced and arranged by Dominik Hauser, and is called Did I Make the Most of Loving You?. The theme was released commercially in both the United Kingdom and United States on 9 January 2013. An extended suite-version was released on the soundtrack for the show on 19 September 2011 in the United Kingdom, and on 13 December 2011 in the United States. That soundtrack also includes a song version performed by singer Mary-Jess Leaverland. According to Lunn, the inspiration for the theme to Downton Abbey came from the American recording-artist and musician James Brown.

Downton Abbey is a British drama television-series created by Julian Fellowes. It first aired on ITV in the United Kingdom on 26 September 2010 and on PBS in the United States on 9 January 2011 as part of the Masterpiece Classic anthology. The series has received critical acclaim from television critics and won numerous accolades, including a Golden Globe Award for Best Miniseries or Television Film, and a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Miniseries or Movie. By 2013, Downton Abbey had become one of the most widely watched television shows in the world.

John Lunn (born in 1956) is a British composer, known for his soundtrack music for television. His work includes the theme tunes for the television series Hamish Macbeth (1995), Lorna Doone (2000), North Square (2000), Hotel Babylon (2006), and Downton Abbey (2010). He has written several operas and a violin concerto.
