Written by Izzy Stradlin and Axl Rose, Don't Cry is a ballad performed by the rock band Guns N' Roses. Two versions were released simultaneously on different albums. The version with the original lyrics is the fourth track on the album Use Your Illusion I, while the version with the alternate lyrics is the thirteenth track on Use Your Illusion II. Don't Cry features Shannon Hoon of the American rock-band Blind Melon as backing-vocalist. In 1991, the singles version ranked highly on the charts in several European countries, and reached number-ten in the United States.

Guns N' Roses is an American rock band formed in California. In 1986, it consisted of vocalist Axl Rose, lead guitarist Slash, rhythm guitarist Izzy Stradlin, bassist Duff McKagan, and drummer Steven Adler. As of 2013, the band had released six studio albums, and sold more than 100-million albums worldwide.
