Dmitri Kabalevsky - Selected Works
Dmitri Kabalevsky (1904 - 1987) was a Russian composer and music pedagog. Among his numerous works, the best known in the West are his Second Piano Concerto and the Comedians' Galop from his suite The Comedians. A dedicated teacher, he organized programs of music education for various schools in the Soviet Union. The monograph Music and Education: a Composer Writes about Musical Education is a collection of his writings published in the United States in 1988.
His Toccatina (Op. 27, No. 12) is a delightful work from his Thirty Children's Pieces (Op. 27) for piano solo written in 1937 - 1938.
His 24 Pieces for Children, Op. 39 were published in the 1930's.
