Debussy's Arabesques

Composed by Claude Debussy between 1888 and 1891, The Deux Arabesques (Two Arabesques) are two of the earliest works written in his characteristic "impressionistic" style.

The Première Arabesque (First Arabesque) was used as the theme music for the PBS television show Star Gazer and was adapted by R&B/Soul singer Alicia Keys in her album The Element of Freedom. It was also used, along with Debussy's Golliwogg's Cakewalk and Clair de Lune, in the 2009 season of the British television show Skins.

With a musical style in which impression matters more than direction, the revolutionary French composer Claude Debussy (1862 - 1918) produced a body of magnificent music, strikingly different from that of previous composers and having profound influence on subsequent composers.
