Pièce pour l'oeuvre du Vêtement du blessé
Page d'album (Page from an album) is a short waltz for solo piano, composed by Claude Debussy in 1915 for the World War I relief organization Le Vêtement du Blessé (Clothing for the Wounded), which sold an autographed (by Debussy) copy of the sheet-music at a fundraising auction. Debussy presented the work to his wife Emma for her birthday later that year. This charming piece is often used to introduce young pianists to Debussy.
With a musical style in which impression matters more than direction, the revolutionary French composer Claude Debussy (1862 - 1918) produced a body of magnificent music, strikingly different from that of previous composers and having profound influence on subsequent composers.
