Cloud Atlas Theme

The musical theme, as well as the complete soundtrack, for the 2012 German movie Cloud Atlas was written by the movie's director Tom Tykwer and his longtime collaborators Reinhold Heil and Johnny Klimek. Film Music Magazine critic Daniel Schweiger described the soundtrack as "a singular piece of multi-themed astonishment ..." Jon Broxton of Movie Music UK wrote, "Scores like Cloud Atlas ... reaffirm your faith in what film music can be when it's done right." The soundtrack was nominated for a 2013 Golden Globe Award for Best Original Score, and for several awards by the International Film Music Critics Association, including Score of the Year.

Tom Tykwer (born in 1965) is a German movie director, producer, screenwriter, and composer. He is best known for directing the movies Run Lola Run (1998), Heaven (2002), Perfume: The Story of a Murderer (2006), The International (2009), and Cloud Atlas (2012).

Johnny Klimek (born in 1962) is an Australian composer for movies and television. With longtime partner Reinhold Heil and German filmmaker Tom Tykwer, Johnny Klimek is known for writing the soundtracks to several movies, including Run, Lola, Run (1998), Perfume: The Story of a Murderer (2006), and Cloud Atlas (2012).

Reinhold Heil (born in 1954) is a German composer for movies and television. His movie credits include Run Lola Run (1998), One Hour Photo (2002), The International (2009), Perfume: The Story of a Murderer (2006), and Cloud Atlas (2012). In 1977, he joined the Nina Hagen Band, which later, known as "Spliff", became one of Germany's most successful rock bands. In the 1980s and 1990s, Heil was known as one of the finest keyboardists in Europe.
