Clara Schumann Works

Clara Schumann's Widmung (Dedication) is a piano transcription of her husband Robert Schumann's song with the same name. Robert Schumann's Widmung is the first piece of his 1840 song-cycle Myrthen (Myrtles), Opus 25, which was his wedding present to Clara. It is worth noting that Franz Liszt made two solo-piano arrangements of Robert Schumann's Widmung.

Clara Wieck Schumann (1819 - 1896) was a German composer and one of the most distinguished pianists of the Romantic era. She was instrumental in getting the works of  Robert Schumann, her husband, recognized and added to the repertoire. According to Edvard Grieg, Clara Schumann was "one of the most soulful and famous pianists of the day".

Clara's compositions include songs, piano pieces, a piano concerto, a piano trio, choral pieces, and three Romances for violin and piano. She dedicated the three Romances to the great violinist Joseph Joachim, who declared them a "marvelous, heavenly pleasure".
