Can't Smile Without You

"Can't Smile Without You" was written by Christian Arnold, David Martin, and Geoff Morrow. The Carpenters recorded it on their 1976 album A Kind of Hush, but the song is best known in its 1978 rendition by Barry Manilow. It was the first single to be released from Manilow's album Even Now. It reached #1 on the U.S. A&C, and #3 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100. Jerry Lewis often sings the song (with altered lyrics to encourage pledges) on his annual Muscular Dystrophy Association telethon.
