Bernstein's West Side Story Songs

West Side Story is a 1957 Broadway musical and a 1961 film. The music was composed by Leonard Bernstein with lyrics by Stephen Sondheim.

Leonard Bernstein (1918 - 1990) was a conductor, composer, author, music lecturer, and pianist. He was one of the most talented, successful, and famous musicians in American history.

He wrote symphonies and other orchestral pieces, as well as choral music and music for stage/films such as West Side Story and Candide. Bernstein was music-director of the New York Philharmonic from 1958 to 1969, and His Young People's Concerts series, 1958 to 1973, was one of the most popular and longest-running classical music programs ever shown on commercial television.
