Beethoven Kurfürstensonaten, WoO 47

Beethoven's Three Early Piano Sonatas, WoO 47, sometimes called Kurfürstensonaten, were composed in 1782 and 1783, when he was eleven and twelve years old. These precocious sonatas are precursors to the masterworks he later produced. They are dedicated to the Elector (Kurfürst) Maximilian Frederick.

The three sonatas are in the keys of E-flat major, F minor, and D major, respectively; and each has three movements.

The abbreviation "WoO" stands for "Werke ohne Opuszahl," German for "works without opus number" .

The music of Ludwig van Beethoven (1770 - 1827) is one of humanity's greatest treasures. Unsurpassed in its power of expression as well as its depth and diversity of ideas and feelings, it provides boundless joy to listeners and performers.
