Bach Two and Three-Part Inventions

Bach's Two and Three Part Inventions (BWV 772–801) are a collection of thirty short keyboard compositions. There are fifteen inventions (two-part contrapuntal pieces) and fifteen sinfonias (three-part contrapuntal pieces). The inventions and the sinfonias are both arranged in order of ascending key, covering eight major and seven minor keys. Bach wrote these masterpieces as exercises for his students.

The music of Johann Sebastian Bach (1685 - 1750) is one of humanity's greatest treasures. It is unsurpassed in its expression of profound reverence for life, and in its depth and diversity of ideas and feelings. It provides boundless joy to listeners and performers.
