Bach Prelude in C

This work is the first prelude in Bach's monumental Well-Tempered Clavier. One of Bach's most famous compositions, it was the inspiration for Gounod's Ave Maria.

Widely regarded as one of the greatest and most influential works in the history of music, Johann Sebastian Bach's The Well-Tempered Clavier (Das Wohltemperirte Clavier), BWV 846–893, is a collection of solo keyboard pieces. It consists of two books, each of which contains twenty-four preludes and fugues in all twenty-four keys. Bach indicated that this work is intended for "musical youth desirous of learning".
