Bach Harpsichord Concertos

Johann Sebastian Bach's Harpsichord Concerto BWV 1056, in F minor, is a three-movement piece for harpsichord, strings, and continuo. Its first and last movements probably come from a violin concerto in G minor that he had written earlier, and the middle movement is probably from an oboe concerto in F major that he had written. The middle movement is also the sinfonia to his cantata Ich Steh mit einem Fuß im Grabe, BWV 156.

Bach wrote seven concertos for a single harpsichord (BWV 1052-1058), three concertos for two harpsichords (BWV 1060-1062), two concertos for three harpsichords (BWV 1063-1064), and one concerto for four harpsichords (BWV 1065).

The music of Johann Sebastian Bach (1685 - 1750) is one of humanity's greatest treasures. It is unsurpassed in its expression of profound reverence for life, and in its depth and diversity of ideas and feelings. It provides boundless joy to listeners and performers.
