Written by Lou Handman with lyrics by Roy Turk, "Are You Lonesome Tonight?" is a popular song first published in 1926, and most notably recorded by Elvis Presley in 1960. Elvis' version was one of the biggest-selling singles of 1960, peaking at number one on the Billboard pop chart and at number three on the R&B charts.

The song was recorded by several artists in 1927, including a version by composer Lou Handman (piano) with his sister Edith (vocal), a version by Vaughn DeLeath ("The Original Radio Girl"), and a version by tenor Henry Burr. Frank Sinatra performed the song on his 1962 album All Alone. The Lettermen recorded the song on their 1964 album She Cried. And Doris Day recorded the song on The Love Album in 1967.
