Arcangelo Corelli: Works

Album für Klavier (Corelli Album for the Piano) is a set of twenty-four movements from keyboard pieces composed by Arcangelo Corelli. The set was arranged by the German composer Carl Reinecke (1824-1910), who selected movements from Corelli's Opuses 1,2,4,5,6,7,8. The Sarabande: Largo in D Minor (Opus 5, Number 7, III) is the 5th piece of Album für Klavier.

Arcangelo Corelli (1653 - 1713) was an Italian composer and violinist of the Baroque era. His music was key in the development of the modern genres of sonata and concerto and in establishing the preeminence of the violin. Corelli composed 48 trio sonatas, 12 violin and continuo sonatas, and 12 concerti grossi. Corelli's Concerti Grossi, Opus 6 is a collection of twelve concerti published in 1714. These are some of the finest examples of baroque-style concerti grossi, and were the model for Handel's Concerti Grossi, Opus 6 published in 1739.
