Always
Always is a popular song written by Irving Berlin in 1925, as a wedding gift for Ellin McKay, whom he married in 1926.
Hit versions have been recorded by many artists including Frank Sinatra, Patsy Cline, Billie Holiday, Billy Corgan, Guy Lombardo, Leonard Cohen, Phil Collins, and The Ink Spots. Billy Eckstine and Sarah Vaughan recorded it as a duet. Bandleader Sammy Kaye recorded it twice, in 1945 with singer Arthur Wright (hit single), and as part of a 1949 LP with singer Tony Alamo.
Always was used as the theme music for the 1942 movie The Pride of the Yankees, and Deanna Durbin sang the song in the 1944 movie Christmas Holiday. It has also been performed on various television programs such as The Ed Sullivan Show.
