Almost Like Being in Love

Published in 1947, Almost Like Being in Love is a popular song, written by Frederick Loewe with lyrics by Alan Jay Lerner. The song was made popular by David Brooks and Marion Bell in the musical Brigadoon, and was later performed in the 1954 movie version with Gene Kelly. There were three hit versions of the song in the United States in 1947: Frank Sinatra's version charted at number-20, and the Mildred Bailey and Mary Martin versions each charted at number-21. Among the other singers who covered Almost Like Being in Love were Nat King Cole, Ella Fitzgerald, Judy Garland, Jo Stafford, and Dean Martin.

Frederick Loewe (1901 - 1988), was an Austrian-American composer. He collaborated with lyricist Alan Jay Lerner on the long-running Broadway musicals My Fair Lady and Camelot, both of which were made into movies. Loewe was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1972.

Alan Jay Lerner (1918 - 1986) was an American lyricist and librettist. In collaboration with Frederick Loewe, and later Burton Lane, he created some of the world's most popular and enduring works of musical theater for both movies and the stage. Among his many awards are three Tony Awards and three Academy Awards.
