All The Things You Are

Composed by Jerome Kern, with lyrics written by Oscar Hammerstein II, All the Things You Are is a song written for the 1939 musical Very Warm for May. It was featured in the 1944 movie Broadway Rhythm, was used as a theme for the 1945 romantic comedy A Letter for Evie, and was used in the 2005 film Mrs. Henderson Presents. Its popularity was greatly enhanced by the recordings of Tommy Dorsey, Artie Shaw, and Frankie Masters. The song has been covered by many artists, including Glenn Miller, Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, Barbra Streisand, and Michael Jackson.

One of the most important American theatre composers of the early twentieth century, Jerome Kern (1885 – 1945) was an American composer. He wrote more than seven hundred songs, for over one hundred stage works, including Ol' Man River, Smoke Gets in Your Eyes, All the Things You Are, The Way You Look Tonight, and Long Ago (and Far Away). Jerome Kern was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1970.

Oscar Hammerstein II (1895 – 1960) was an American lyricist/writer and producer/director of musicals. Hammerstein wrote the lyrics for 850 songs, including Ol' Man River, Indian Love Call, People Will Say We're in Love, and Oklahoma. Five albums of Hammerstein musicals were included in the Recording Industry Association of America's "Songs of the Century" list (2001): The Sound of Music, Oklahoma, South Pacific, The King and I, and Show Boat.
