Albeniz's Asturias (Leyenda)

Asturias (Leyenda), which is the first movement of Albéniz's Chants d'Espagne, is probably most famous as part of the classical guitar repertoire, even though it was originally composed for piano.

Isaac Albéniz (1860 - 1909) was a Spanish Catalan pianist and composer best known for his piano works based on folk music idioms. Many of Albéniz's piano compositions were transcribed for guitar, notably by Francisco Tárrega .

Albéniz played a crucial role in the development of the Spanish classical style of music. Iberia (1908), his suite of twelve piano pieces, is generally considered the most important Spanish piece for solo piano.
