Against All Odds

Take A Look At Me Now

Nominated for an Academy Award as Best Original Song and for a Golden Globe Award as Best Original Song, Against All Odds was written by Phil Collins and recorded for the soundtrack to the 1984 movie of the same name, in which Collins sang the song. The single reached number-two in the United Kingdom, and number-one on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100. The song has been covered by several singers, some versions of which have been successful in both the United States and the United Kingdom. One of the most notable versions was made by Mariah Carey and the band Westlife, whose single peaked at number-one in the United Kingdom in 2000.

Phil Collins (born in 1951) is an English singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, actor, and writer, well known both as a solo artist, and as a drummer/vocalist for English rock-group Genesis. Between 1976 and 2010, Collins sang the lead vocals on dozens of hit albums and singles in the United Kingdom and the United States. His solo singles include In the Air Tonight, Sussudio, Against All Odds, and Another Day in Paradise.

Phil Collins, Paul McCartney, and Michael Jackson are the only recording artists who have sold over 100 million albums worldwide, both as solo artists and as principal members of a band. Collins has won numerous music awards, including seven Grammy Awards, six Brit Awards, three American Music Awards, an Academy Award, two Golden Globe Awards, and a Disney Legend Award. He was inducted to the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1999, into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2003, and into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of Genesis in 2010.
